Lemurs an Abridged History

 

Following the Martian Revolution of 2090 Corporate Kleptocracies wanted to pacify Mars and bring it back under their thumb. Military Operations at the time were expensive and using full sized Human Soldiers would cost too much. In 2091 Chromosome LLC had the brilliant idea to use uplifted animals as cheap disposable infantry, since space travel was still expensive smaller troopers would be needed. The Lemurs were not the first choice that goes to chimpanzees, but chimpanzees were too big. So, the Lemurs were chosen as the middle ground, and with opposable thumbs they could be given human made equipment that was scaled down for them. However, Chromosome LLC made a massive mistake that would destroy this operation before it took off. When they boarded the ships to go to mars, morale was low among the Lemurs, but they pressed on as all good people do. When the Lemurs landed on Mars they were met by the 3rd Infantry Regiment. The 3rd was famous for wearing large crests and ostentatious helmets. When the first Lemurs came out, they were instructed to lay down their weapons, they did so without complaint and were peacefully taken as Prisoners of War. Five Days later on July 7th, 2092, the Lemurs would officially join the Martian Republic and vowed to fight alongside their Martian brethren.

This story is a gonzo idea but it can be used. Why not throw sentient lemurs who like hats as NPCs.
